    HAP has a classroom teacher position open for a new specialty day school program. We serve autistic students in multi-grade classrooms that span kindergarten through 5th grade. We follow a self-contained intervention model, with the teachers responsible for teaching all subject areas (reading, writing, math, science, and social studies). Differentiated instruction is delivered in a small group format.  


    Responsibilities:

    • Plan, deliver, and amend instructional programs as necessary

    • Work closely with behaviorists and other colleagues to ensure continuity within the grade level and from grade-to-grade

    • Build students’ confidence and self-esteem as you come to know them as learners and individuals

    • Maintain a classroom that is orderly, organized and equipped to meet the needs of the program and students, and presents a professional appearance to the community

    • Communicate with families via conferences, phone conversations, emails and teacher blogs

    • Maintain student notes, anecdotal records, observations, work samples, and any appropriate assessments

    • Complete student progress reports three times annually: November, March, and June

    • Assume full responsibility for organizing, scheduling and leading parent-teacher-student conferences at a minimum of three times annually

    • Document reports, discipline, student health and other professional correspondence as appropriate

    • Attend regular faculty meetings and other team or school-wide meetings as needed

    • Take advantage of professional development opportunities and remain current on educational research and best practices

    • Engage in self-assessment and work towards professional goals and professional growth

    • Play an active role in the admissions process through classroom visits, observations, and events

    • Participate fully in the life of the school by contributing to and attending school events, supporting advancement/development efforts, and being a representative of the school

    • Promote enrollment for the school internally and externally

    • Support the school and its leadership

    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications and Competencies:

    • Bachelor’s degree in special education, Master’s degree preferred

    • Active Special Education Colorado Teacher License required

    • Specific training and experience in the area of autism spectrum disorder

    • The ability to work collaboratively with other service providers so as to implement learning and behavior plans with fidelity.

    • Excellent verbal, written communication skills and strong organizational and management skills

    • Experience in curriculum development, collaborative planning and team teaching

    Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000.  This is a full-time EXEMPT position. Salary is negotiable based on experience and/or additional qualifications.

    • This position is for an occupational therapist at Havern School and the Havern Autism Program (HAP), serving students with learning disabilities and autism. The OT provides services to support the instructional program through their unique contribution, which complements and augments those made by other professionals with unique perspectives and skills. Working collegially with lower and middle school faculty, our HAP team, speech-language pathologists, and the school psychologist, is essential. This is a 5 day a week position, (1) for the 2025-2026 school year, consisting of .7 for Havern and .3 for HAP. The salary range for this position is $55,000-$75,000 annually, commensurate with experience. (With the right candidate, 4 days a week could be considered) 

    • The benefits of working at an independent school include: small caseload (25-30), no IEP’s, minimal paperwork, flexibility in determining therapeutic needs and servicing, and ease of multidisciplinary collaboration due to small setting 

    Responsibilities:

    • Providing high-quality direct occupational therapy services to students within the classroom environment, in small groups, or 1:1 as needed

    • Culturally responsive and competent in working with students with neurodiverse learning profiles, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 2), ages 5 to 12 with a wide range of motor and sensory needs and learning styles

    • Collecting relevant data in the form of standardized assessments, clinical observations, parent/teacher interviews, and/or progress monitoring to determine a student’s current strengths and concerns in the areas of fine and gross motor, visual motor integration, executive functioning, and regulation skills.

    • Developing treatment plans that are strength-based, as well as child and family-centered for overall educational improvement

    • Tracking student progress in therapeutic goal areas and using this information to update treatment plans, as needed

    • Complete evaluation and end-of-year progress reports, write functional goals, take data, and other paperwork needed to provide high quality services

    • Engaging and communicating with families and caregivers in their student's therapeutic supports, progress, and learning, via email, Class Dojo, and conferencing with parents throughout the year

    • Consulting with teaching teams to develop and implement curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies such as visual supports, sensory supports, and data collection

    • Ensuring students’ skills are generalized across settings by collaborating with teaching teams and related service providers and providing therapy services within the classroom, as appropriate

    • Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team in making outside referrals when necessary

    • Participate in and/or lead aspects of climbing wall, health and wellness, student electives, or other classes as assigned

    • Communicating and coordinating with the Lower and Middle School teaching teams and Associate Head of School to ensure school mission, philosophy, and procedures are embraced

    • Designing and conducting training for staff and families, as needed

    • Maintaining an inventory of materials, assessments, and supplies

    • Maintaining appropriate, confidential, records 

    • Keeping abreast of best practices in occupational therapy 

    • Contributing to overall school success across situations and settings when needed  

    • Attending and participating in school events outside of regular school hours

    • Other duties as assigned 

    Qualifications and Competencies:

    • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy

    • Valid OTR/L credentials and Colorado licensure 

    • Maintain current knowledge of best practices in school based occupational therapy and a desire and willingness to take advantage of professional development opportunities

    • Culturally responsive and competent in working with students with neurodiverse learning profiles, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 2) ages 5 to 12 with a wide range of communication needs and learning styles

    • Providing high-quality direct speech-language therapy services to students within the classroom environment, in small groups, or 1:1 as needed

    • Conducting comprehensive and functional assessments, analyzing results, and writing reports to determine strengths and concerns in areas of speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, and oral motor skills

    • Complete evaluation reports, write functional goals, take data, and other paperwork needed to provide high quality services

    • Developing treatment plans that are strength-based as well as child and family-centered for overall educational improvement

    • Assisting and guiding teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders

    • Consulting with teaching teams to develop and implement curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies such as visual supports, oral motor exercises, language strips, topics of conversation, and data collection

    • Ensuring students’ skills are generalized across settings by collaborating with teaching teams and related service providers

    • Planning for and teaching, weekly social skills classes

    • Completing progress reports in a timely manner

    • Communicating and coordinating with all faculty and staff to ensure school mission, philosophy, and procedures are embraced

    • Attend team meetings and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including, classroom teachers, support staff, mental health providers, RBTs, OTs, and parents

    • Designing and conducting training for parents and families if needed

    QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:
