Job Title: Building Substitute Teacher

This position is for a permanent floating substitute teacher in multi-grade classrooms at Havern School, serving students with neurodiverse profiles. We follow a self-contained model, with the teachers responsible for teaching all subject areas (reading, writing, math, science, and social studies). This position is for the 24-25 school year. When not subbing, other administrative tasks may be assigned. This is a full-time position with general hours being 7:45 AM - 3:15 PM, but part-time would be considered. Salary ranges from $35,000 - $45,000 annually, based on experience and hours. This position will cover a maternity leave in one of our lower school classrooms from December 16, 2024, to March 16, 2025, with the potential to return to the building substitute teacher position for the remainder of the school year.Roles and responsibilities:
Deliver instruction per teacher lesson plan to students, following the directions and guidelines of the lead teacher.
Flexibility and willingness to move between classrooms where needed throughout the day and the week.
Help create a positive classroom environment where students are engaged, challenged at their individual level, and supported (both emotionally and academically).
Develop suitable curricula, lessons, materials, and effective teaching methods based on the assessments of students’ needs.
Understand students’ needs and adjust instruction accordingly.
Deliver differentiated, data-driven instruction across all subject areas.
Supervise students at recess and lunch.
Support essential classrooms as needed (art, drama, technology).
Develop a respectful, positive, and caring rapport with students.
Maintain a positive attitude toward work with colleagues, families, and students.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in an Education-related field
Experience working with diverse student populations
3-5 years experience in an independent school setting, preferred
Orton Gillingham or similar training, preferred
Basic comfort and skill with Google Suite and Google Classroom
Demonstrated ability to communicate, solve problems, and maintain effective relationships with all members of the school community
High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information

RBT will provide behavioral and instructional support to K-6th grade students with an autism diagnosis or similar behavior challenges. The RBT will implement programming and behavior intervention based on the student’s individualized plan created by the student’s classroom teacher and BCBA. The classroom RBT will work with a variety of students across all grades and classrooms.Responsibilities
Work 8:00am -4:00pm Monday - Friday
Implement both skill acquisition programming and maladaptive behavior intervention to students’ kindergarten through 6th grade.
Know student intervention plans and implement behavior responses throughout the day
Provide support to classroom teachers when students are struggling and need extra support
Provide training on behavior intervention plans when needed with new team members
Collect consistent data on student’s behavior or academic goals
Enter data into tracking system
Support teachers and BCBA with progress summaries
Regular meetings with BCBA and Classroom teacher to communicate challenges, progress and ideas
Complete documentation by deadlines including but not limited to timesheets, incident reports, client documentation, etc.
Create visuals or instructional materials for students at BCBA, or teacher’s, request
Follow all ASD program process and procedures and Havern School policies
8:15a greet children everyday at drop off and walk them out at 3p and wait for parents to pick up
Attend all professional development events
Qualifications and Competencies
High School Diploma
Bachelor’s degree preferred
At least 18 years old
Current Registered Behavior Technician certification in good standing with BACB
At least 6 months working as an RBT implementing behavior intervention with children 5-12 years old
Preferred 1 year working in a school setting
Stellar written and verbal communication skills
Professional, excellent with taking feedback and applying it, strong work ethic
Works well in a fast-paced environment
Ability to adjust energy level based on the environment

Compensation
$18 - $21/hour
Salary is negotiable based on experience and/or additional qualifications.
